Basically, an MMORTS is a strategic "build up your base, create an army and squash the enemy" type of game, but online with thousands of players on the same server, at the same time.
What this means is:
-Usually browser based. (no download required)
-Set up camp, build an economy, make an army, fight.
-When you are offline, your city can still be attacked. You have the option of setting your troops to defend from invaders, or hide them to avoid losses.
-Players can form alliances in order to help each other out and make sure their friends are safe when they are offline. Or they can try to take on the world alone.
-Easy to learn, difficult to master.
Examples of an MMORTS are: -Evony -The Stratagems (by JoyFort) -Empire (by good game studios)
